What to expect during the ceremony

There is no set format that every funeral has to follow. However, a ceremony might include:

 

Arrival - The coffin enters the ceremony space, accompanied by family members or pallbearers. Music may be played as everyone takes their place.

 

Welcome - I will welcome everyone and explain what will happen during the ceremony.

 

Remembering their life - This is at the heart of the ceremony. I will share their story through the memories, stories and details that you have given me, creating a tribute that reflects who they were.

 

Readings, music and reflection - There may be readings, poems, prayers or music chosen because they were meaningful to your loved one or your family. Family and friends can also be involved if you would like them to be.

 

The farewell - The committal provides a moment to say goodbye. This can be simple and quiet, or it can include particular words, music, a prayer or another meaningful ritual.

 

Closing - I will bring the ceremony to a gentle close before the final piece of music and the family's departure.
